Five Things I’ve Learned in the Past Few Months

Intro

First off THANK YOU. The amount of feedback and love on the past few posts I wrote this week have been beyond kind. I honestly cannot explain to you how much it meant to me to see the amount of people who took the time to go on my site (yes I can check and get notified) and not even just those who read but took the time out of their day to text, dm, or message me about my work. I CANNOT possibly thank you enough. With that being said, although the post that got a lot of attention (On Your Own Time) was more of a serious topic, I try to avoid being too serious in my writing. So for this post I’ve compiled a list of five things I have learned over the past few months.

Don’t Be a Pussy

A lot easier said than done, but don’t be a fucking pussy. I learned this one recently. Being apart of a very high expecting family I’ve always been pushed into certain things that may or not have been what I wanted to do, in terms of long term career pathways and in short term instances. SUPER CLICHE, but I know I’m not the only person who deals with these situations. Nothing is more heartbreaking than being forced to do and commit to things you don’t want to do or have any interest in pursuing. Trust me I know. Although you are surrounded by people who love and care about you, sometimes the only person who knows what is best for you is you. So don’t be a pussy. Do what you want. Speak the fuck up for what you believe in and do it. One thing I will say though, follow through. Don’t just give up after all that work. Follow through and never pussy out on what you want.

Hustle

Quit sitting there thinking to yourself how you’ll find success and start hustling, sis. Whether that means picking up more shifts at work or applying for sugardaddy.com, hope on your hustle wave. Money is an abundance that is found everywhere, all one must do to is get up off their ass and look. I’ve grown to learn that spending most your time staring at Instagram models didn't make me any hotter. So what did I do? I got up and bought a Yoga membership three months ago and now consistently hustle four to five times a week. Motivate yourself to get what you want and you’ll get it.

Shooting Film Is Fucking Awesome.

It wasn't until the end of December that I initially started shooting film. Disposables or my 30 mm Maxima, I’ve always admired the “aesthetic” and being able to savour (yes we use a "u" in Canada) photos. I use the word “savour” because each roll only contains 27 photos and to get the photos developed is a whole other process.

Snapchat Aint Shit

Basically, since the update I’ve given up on Snapchat entirely. I barely know how to use it and not to mention I worship Rihanna so I guess that’s all the justification I need, really. There seems to be a new unmanageable update every week. I've never really used the filters either. Just picture what drugs one would have to be on to create "Sparkly Lion Dog with Extra Long Eyelashes" or "Drooling rainbow Huge Eyes". Not to mention I am not much of the type to keep streaks since last year. I guess I grew out of that pretty quick.

Podcasts Save Lives

Imagine a world where you’d be able to retain knowledge without having to go to class or read a book, well there world gave us podcasts to fill that void. A concept, I know. Okay so you’ve run out of new music? Listen to a podcast. Brain dead on the bus? Listen to a podcast. Their on Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube, you have no excuse for not knowing a lick of American politics. Don't be stupid, learn something. For Spotify users I recommend “The Daily”, its powered by the New York Times. There is a new podcast uploaded every weekday by 6am and they’re only 20 minutes long each one. A simple update to learn a little bit of something every day, amazing. Youtube fans, you’ll love The Joe Rogan Experience, super great recommendation. All in all, whether you’re retaining information on why Kanye decided to release a philosophy novel on Twitter, what Trump decided to do to be an idiot today, why Mark Zuckerberg is selling our personal information, or why Tristan decided to grind up on a new SOHO House bimbo, you have no excuse for being a dumbass and not keeping up with any type of news. Podcasts save lives.

Finally, I wanted to thank you all, once again for reading.

Kimi
